The story of an icon
In the heart of Taormina, beside the historic Clock Tower, stands an eighteenth-century palazzo that today houses the iconic Hotel Metropole Taormina.
A place steeped in history, where past and legend intertwine to create a unique atmosphere.
Originally the residence of jurist and archaeologist Biagio De Spuches, the palazzo housed a private collection of ancient coins and artefacts from the Greek Theatre, some of which are still visible today.
In 1876 it became the "Bellevue" inn and, at the dawn of the twentieth century, was transformed into the elegant Hotel Metropole, renowned for its exclusivity.
After decades of neglect, a careful restoration in 2007 returned the building to its former glory. Today, the Metropole boasts 25 unique rooms and suites, a SPA with hammam, and an infinity pool that seems to merge with the blue of the Mediterranean.
